first. Fill with the proper mix of distilled water and coolant and add a bottle of coolant additive if you wish. Clean out the fins of the radiator and the AC condenser too. If you do that and it still jumps up in temp, perhaps your fan clutch has gone bad. I wouldn't expect wrapping the precats would do much in keeping the heat down.
